County of York Emergency Services Takes Delivery of Upgraded Mobile Communications Unit

STEVENSVILLE, MD - PEAKE has completed a communications retrofit on the County of York (PA) Emergency Services existing Mobile Communications Unit, providing the agency with greater capability and enhancing their mobile operations.As part of a large contract with the South Central PA Taskforce mobile communication overhaul, the County of York received a new communications system providing converged IP communication network with VSAT connectivity. This upgrade gives the agency a more dynamic means of communicating in the mobile environment. PEAKE also installed two Direct-TV receivers to provide the Taskforce with a connection more video feeds.The County of York’s MCU will now operate using PEAKE Tactical-IP® satellite service giving the team a reliable and economical solution that establishes voice, video and data links from any incident or location. The Tactical-IP® “Responder” package gives the unit full communications capabilities with 3 Mb/s downlink and 1 Mb/s uplink.The South Central Task Force consists of eight counties in the South Central portion of Pennsylvania: Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York. According to their mission statement, the SCTF is the premier and enduring, "all-hazards" emergency preparedness task force that collaborates and coordinates both public and private sector resources for Regional solutions that provide support to communities when events exceed their capabilities.
