In an effort to establish business continuity in times of a disaster or outage, the United Therapeutics Corporation has up fitted their corporate coach bus with redundant communication’s systems. Peake integrated a satellite and cellular network into the corporate bus that will provide the CEO with business continuity and disaster recovery communications.United Therapeutics Corporation is a biotechnology company focused on the development and commercialization of specific products to address the unmet medical needs of patients with chronic and life-threatening conditions. The corporation identified a need for continuity of operations throughout a disaster and/or while travelling.Originally the corporation’s intention was to install a roof-mounted, low stow satellite antenna on to their bus however vehicle height restrictions prevented this approach. Peake opted to offer a 0.85-meter, 3-piece flyaway antenna with controller and modem. This antenna is packed out of 2 rugged cases, assembled in the exterior, then cables are run to a new, custom external connection panel (ECP) in the coach’s electrical compartment. The controller and modem for the portable satellite antenna are housed in a newly installed electronics rack in the coach’s curbside interior living space. A Cisco 881V integrated services router provides Wide Area Network (WAN) connectivity to the Ka-band satellite link. Four Tactical-Voice lines have been provided with encrypted tunnels to the Peake Voice Gateway. The core electronics are a Cradle point MBR router providing wireless LAN services throughout the Coach and 4G LTE WAN services for Internet connectivity when available. Wireless LAN credentials were carried forward from the legacy configuration to ensure endpoint migration was seamless.United Therapeutics currently has four products on the market and continues research into treatments for pulmonary arterial hypertension, cancer, and some of the world’s most complicated viral illnesses. UT is located around the world and is headquartered in Silver Spring, MD.[Best_Wordpress_Gallery id="45" gal_title="5-21-2015"]
