Leveling the Playing Field is a non-profit organization that collects donations of sporting equipment to help provide underprivileged children the opportunity to enjoy the pleasure of athletic involvement. On Wednesday, PEAKE delivered a car-load of sports equipment collected over the past month from PEAKE employees. Donations include soccer balls, basketballs, lacrosse equipment, baseball gloves, field hockey goalie equipment, and more.Leveling the Playing Field is constantly identifying communities, schools, and organizations that need support for their youth athletic programs. They also collect the excess and used sports equipment thrown away every year by Athletic Programs, Recreation Departments, families and individuals all over the world. LTPF also helps clean dirtied playing surfaces in underprivileged areas so that children have a place to play.According to LTPF website, studies show that students who participate in interscholastic athletics have higher grade point averages, attendance rates, standardized test scores, educational aspirations, health habits and feelings of connection and belonging. Although LTPF has donated to many states, they mostly work with local DMV (District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia) programs.“Many employees here at PEAKE are involved in youth sports in our communities and can see first hand what a positive and life-changing affect that sports can have on a child,” stated Stephanie Jones, Marketing Director at PEAKE. “The benefits of sports participation are immeasurable. We are happy to contribute in a small way to helping all children have the opportunity to participate. In our eyes, Leveling the Playing field is doing great things for our youth.”To learn more about Leveling the Playing Field and to help their great cause by donating visit www.levelingtheplayingfield.org/
