STEVENSVILLE, MD. – Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) has taken delivery of four identical communications trailers built by PEAKE. The trailers will be located strategically throughout the country providing the company with advanced communications for business continuity and disaster response.PEAKE designed and custom-built the communications trailers to provide PG&E with both comprehensive communications and interior workspace. The back area of the trailer’s is designed as the ‘communications’ space with two operator workstations. The front of the trailer provides four workstations for employees as well as a monitor wall for viewing incoming video feeds and data.Each trailer includes an integrated and comprehensive IP communications system with VSAT connectivity using a 1.2-meter, self-acquiring satellite antenna. The trailers feature an extensive video system that includes a mast-mounted camera, DirecTV receiver, recording devices and video switcher that routes several video feeds to the different monitors on-board. Access to 3G/4G LTE cellular communications provides PG&E with redundant sources of communication, necessary for continuity of operations and disaster response efforts.A 30’ pneumatic mast with a custom masthead features scene lighting, a surveillance video camera and UHF repeater antennas. Each trailer also features an external connection panel providing PGE with the ability to connect with the IP-network from outside of the trailers.The ECP has 8 Ethernet ports and both A/V-In and A/V-out ports. With the ECP, the trailer’s network connectivity and resources are able to extend outside of the trailer and into other company facilities or assets.Pacific Gas and Electric is one of the largest natural gas and electric utilities in the United States.
