Howard County Office of Emergency Management adds new video display wall and upgrades Audio/Video system Peake recently completed an audio-video upgrade to the Howard County Emergency Operations Center. Peake installed a state-of-the-art video display solution that included three 90inch and two 42inch LCD displays, all flush mounted to create a high definition video wall at the focal point of the EOC.Adding to the legacy video switching system, Peake integrated a new Extron MGP 464 Four Window Multi-Window Processor. This processer combines video, HDTV, and high resolution RGB input sources into four windows on a single display. This “quad-view” can show multiple inputs including the 4 tuner inputs, computer screens, and a video sources.Peake custom built a casing around the two 42inch LCD displays to complete the flush wall look of the video screen. The previous video display at Howard County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) included two projector screens and two 42inch television displays.Controlled by a touchpad in the EOC, the improved video wall and switching system gives Howard County a more intuitive and easy to use program. The video wall displays can be easily changed to show the multiple inputs depending on what is needed throughout operations.In addition to adapting the video switching system, Peake re-wired the communications rack in the Howard County EOC. Peake also installed a 42inch LCD display in the EOC Policy Room.According to their website, Howard County Office of Emergency Management facilitates multi-agency planning that enhances domestic preparedness for all hazards. During emergency situations staff personnel implement the Emergency Operations Plan in order to protect the health, safety, and welfare of all persons in Howard County. Often times this response utilizes the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) or Emergency Services Command Unit (ESCU); both of which are operated by OEM.
