Fairfax Command, Control and Communications Rally: Review

June 22, 2016

PEAKE spent last Friday at the 10th Annual Fairfax Command, Control and Communications Rally at the Fairfax County Police Training Facility near Dulles Airport. We arrived around 7:30 to set up our display along with our partners from AQYR Technologies, UAV Fields Services, and Cisco. Unlike 2013, the weather cooperated all day. It was a successful day spent with many DC-Metro area agencies.PEAKE displayed our OSPREY™ trailer, an infrastructure communications resource, as well as our ultra-portable TICS WARRIOR-S system. AQYR Technologies demonstrated the capability and portability of their TYPHOON VSAT KU-Band antenna. The TICS-WARRIOR-S solution TYPHOON pair together to provide users with phone and data connections in times of need.In partnership with UAV Field Services, PEAKE displayed a unique UAV/drone solution. Although unable to fly the drone due to the proximity of the Dulles Airport, we were able to stream video from the UAV to our VirtualVideoWall™. This unique solution was exciting and generated a lot of interest from the attendees of the rally.Cisco Systems was also at the Rally displaying their IP Interoperability and Collaboration System (IPICS). IPICS is a complete IP-based dispatch and incident response solution loaded with capabilities for first responders. The day was kicked off by Mr. Michael Newburn the Fairfax County Radio Systems and Services Center. Throughout the day various companies provided demonstrations to the attendees. As the agency attendees participated in the interoperability exercise, private vendors had the opportunity to meet with potential customers and current clients. Overall the day of networking was positive and successful, the weather was perfect, and the BBQ lunch was great as well.We look forward to participating in the 11th Annual Fairfax Rally in 2015.And keep an eye out for dates and information regarding the Central Maryland Command and Communications Rally to be held in October of 2014.
